Our Christmas Month Recap

Oh December, how I love thee!
This month was so fun and laid back, minus the few days right at Christmas. We took the boys to The Polar Express up in Williams, Arizona. AH-mazing. It seriously felt like Christmas being up there, experiencing the snow, the scenery, the train, the best Santa Claus ever...we agreed we have to do this every year from now on.

This was at the height of Dacky's sugar delirium. He had been given hot chocolate, candy, cookies...he was making weird sounds, drunk laughing, and then conked his head on the side of the train before sobering up.

I love this sequence of facial expressions I caught with my phone, even though they're all blurry. This was the first time that Piggie actually let a Santa Claus come within his vicinity and he's almost four years old. The last photo he's thinking "That Santa guy isn't too bad after all" and Dacky is thinking "What is this crap, I didn't ask for a bell!"
Dacky didn't completely get the whole relation of the movie with this experience.
The next morning we woke up to snow flurries outside our room! I was freaking out I was so happy.
We went and had breakfast at the most awesome little cafe that served everything big: coffee, bacon, hash browns, eggs, biscuits! While we ate it snowed outside. Pretty sure I said about a hundred times to Luis "Ohhhh my goooodddd...look it's snowing outside, could it get any more perfect?!"

On the way back to Phoenix: we started with snow, then some crazy clouds and scattered snow, and then sunny Phoenix, ha! All in a few hours time. People don't know that just two hours north of Phoenix is a completely different story, landscape and weather wise.

Christmas eve with Luis' family. Latinos for the most part celebrate Christmas on Christmas eve. Meaning I have to party till well after midnight and then go celebrate Christmas again with my family the next day by noon. Luckily, since my brother has to do Christmas with his fiance's family, I didn't have to show up until 5pm on Christmas day for round two.
Not pictured: Piggie on fire. Yeah those light stick, fire thingies are NOT safe! I kept asking if they were safe and people were like "yeah, duh". And then Piggie walks by ON FREAKING FIRE...he had a little flame on his sweater in the front and in the back. I seriously gave myself whiplash somehow when I screamed out "OH MY GOD!!!" Luis patted it out and then laughed at me for being a freak. People who have problems with the law on the Internet use the service buy a real passport using their data. This means that the passport will be real and entered into the database Apparently I'm the only person who thinks it's crazy that a four year old was engulfed in flames.
This is Dacky in the pinata line, except this pretty girl caught his eye and he couldn't stop staring for the rest of the night. Too bad she's fourteen!

Oh Christmas morning, Dacky started the procession towards the living room. Not because he was thinking about Santa, but just because he wakes up at the butt crack of dawn. We had to wake Piggie up, who at first acted annoyed but then sprang out of bed when we reminded him that Santa had come.

He rushed into the living room and opened all the presents. There were only a few but he "helped" Dacky open his presents too. Luckily Dacky didn't care cause he's barely two and still sweet, also not really aware or impressed with presents.

Since we didn't have to be at my parent's house until the evening, we just spent Christmas day sitting around and being lazy. It was a good day.

At breakfast, Dacky took bites of food in between playing with his new, creepy super heroes. I had intended on making cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning....hahahahahahahahahahahaha. I had started the yeast the night before and as my eyes watered almost shut from exhaustion, I was like "eff this." Actually Luis had to convince me that the boys would still have an awesome Christmas even if they didn't have rolls for breakfast. I felt like a mom fail, but then I realized I was being lame and went to bed!

I love December and Christmas time, but after Christmas actually happens, I'm always SO GLAD it's over. The overload of family stimulation and gift giving and food making and house clutter just makes me look forward to the New Year even more.

I'm currently doing a major decluttering sweep in my house. If I haven't touched it in a few months, it's going to Goodwill. I want nothing in my house that I don't use on a (at least semi) consistent basis. I'm not full minimalist but I love me some empty spaces. I don't sleep well knowing there are drawers and cabinets packed full of stuff or overstuffed closets. Good riddance clutter!

I hope you had an awesome holiday season and are getting to detox right now from all the chaos that is the holidays! Are you doing anything special to prepare for the New Year, like decluttering or cleaning or thinking of changes you want to make?
