I have pretty much fallen off the blogging bandwagon this month...what about you? December just gets crazy with all of the fun things to do with your family, all of the Christmas shopping, baking and cooking, etc. I'm also sooo excited for getting my blog ready for 2015 too that I have neglected everything else. I just get excited in general for this time of year with new planners, journals, new everything with a fresh slate!
This past week at the Polar Express in Williams, AZ |
Anyway, I made up these questions below and tagged other bloggers, who then kind of tagged me back so technically I guess I'm interviewing myself. I'm awkward.
1. What do you love the most about blogging?
I love the community aspect of blogging. I love that it's sort of like an online record book of our lives and sometimes I just go through all of my past posts and reminisce about things I've already forgotten about. And the thing I love most is the way blogging always challenges me to grow and is such an amazing creativity outlet.
2. How do you find the time to keep up with all the aspects related to blogging (posting, reading, commenting, responding, etc)?
I usually blog at night after my kids have gone to bed and sometimes on the weekends my husband will take the boys so I can spend a few hours blogging, which is ideally how I'd like to do things every week but sometimes life happens. I'm going to start responding to comments right from my phone, which is what the rest of the world has been doing, but that will help me a lot to respond faster. And I alternate nights, so I write a post one night and the next night spend time reading other blogs.
3. Does your family know about your blog and does this affect what you blog about?
My husband knows about my blog and that doesn't affect anything I write. My parents know about my blog and that has definitely gotten a little tense at times....especially when Huffington Post took one of my articles that sort of mentioned them and featured it lol. Not gonna lie, things got a little weird between me and my parents. Which was actually a great experience for me because as a writer in general, sometimes you just can't omit things for fear of a family member's reaction. My life is my experience and it is what it is. That article helped me just in writing it, so it was a good thing.
4. If you didn't blog, what would you be doing with that time?
I'd be reading or journaling. I do both of those anyway, usually after blogging. So maybe I'd be watching more tv.
5. Have you been in a blogging rut and how did you pull yourself out of it?
Yes! Usually I have found that if I just keep plugging away, my inspiration will return a few weeks later.
6. Have you ever considered leaving the blogging world and why? What stopped you?
Sometimes I've thought "what is the point of my blog? Why am I blogging and what am I even doing?" I still can't really even explain why I blog or what the point even is since I have yet to make a living from it, but all I know is that I love it. I'm a writer at heart, and blogging is just pure fun for me.
7. Show some blog love: name another blog that you adore?
Oh man...this is a tough one. I'm going to copy Tamara and just close my eyes and move my cursor around all crazy and see which blog on my list is falls on....awww A Touch of Grace. I got to meet her in person a few months ago, it was so awesome! I wonder which blogger/s I'll get to meet in 2015?!
8. What's your favorite social media outlet for sharing your blog posts?
I love sharing on Facebook because I get more responses there, but I loooove Instagram the most. Although I need to work on integrating sharing my posts over there more.
9. What's one thing you've learned about yourself since you started blogging?
That writing is my calling. I've always kept journals and received my highest grades in writing, but I never knew for sure if was something I could do or not. But through blogging consistently over the last three and a half years, I've learned that yes, writing is good for my soul and something I should always keep doing. I express myself best through writing.
10. Any new blogging plans or ideas for the new year?!
Hell to the yes! This year I'm kind of looking forward to writing more purposeful posts rather than a lot of the random crap I usually write about for lack of anything else to write. I definitely plan on hardcore rolling out the editorial calendar and pushing myself to write about more topics.
That's a wrap, folks. Consider yourself tagged if you need a blog post idea! But before you go, do YOU have any new blogging plans or ideas for the new year?! Please tell me in the comments below, I could talk about this topic all day long.
