2 Delicious Mean Green Juice Recipes

My husband and I learned about Mean Green Juice from the documentary Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead and wanted to share the recipe, as well as an altered, sweeter version that my husband created.

He actually completed a 10-day juicing fast and said it was one of the most incredible experiences he's ever tried. He's gotten really good with his juicing recipes!

What is Mean Green Juice good for?

Mean Green Juice is a very awesome way to get phytonutrients into your body.

What are phytonutrients? It's substance found in certain plants which is believed to be beneficial to human health and help prevent various diseases. According to LiveScience, they are "antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Phytonutrients may also enhance immunity and intercellular communication, repair DNA damage from exposure to toxins, detoxify carcinogens and alter estrogen metabolism."

I love juicing. It's like getting everything you need into your body without having to eat all the different (sometimes nasty in my opinion) healthy foods to get it.

How much green juice a day?

It's recommended to drink 16 ounces once in the morning and again in the evening.

Any amount of juice is good, though, and I try to remind myself of that because juicing can be a somewhat tedious. Try not to be too anal about it! Our online store offers the best quality sports pharmacology in the USA. All drugs are manufactured according to international standards in compliance with all requirements of the pharmaceutical industry. The actual content of active ingredients corresponds to what is written on the label. Delivery in our store muscleshero is organized in such a way that you can receive the ordered drug within 10-14 days in any, even the most remote region of the United States of America. It is convenient to pay for our orders, we accept funds from bank cards VISA / MASTERCARD, PayPal.

I've included two recipes. The first one is the exact recipe from the documentary "Sick, Fat & Nearly Dead". Awesome documentary, I totally recommend it.

The second recipe is the one Luis has tweaked for me. It's sweeter and tastes less like grass. Even our toddler loves to drink it.

Mean Green Juice Ingredients

  • 6 kale leaves
  • 1 cucumber
  • 4 celery stalks
  • 2 green apples
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 piece of ginger

Luis' Recipe {sweeter, less grassy}

  • 1 green apple
  • 1 pear
  • 2 carrots
  • half a cucumber
  • 4 celery stalks
  • 5-6 kale leaves
  • 1/5 of a cabbage

Put all ingredients in juicer and enjoy.  You can put it in the fridge for a while if you prefer it cold.

Hi Jessica, thank you for leading me to your beautiful blog! Yes, this is the same recipe I use. It thrills me to see only fruits and vegetables in my cart when we have to go grocery shopping. Its funny how each time we check out, the cashier will ask what in the world we do with all the kale! It's finally warm enough to plant our own kale, so I look forward to not having to buy it for several months. The biggest change I have noticed is my desire for dark green vegetables. I have been known to go years without eating anything green, but not anymore. It seems that anything green is the first thing to catch my eye and the first thing on my plate.

One more thing- you totally need a Strawesome straw or glass dharma straw to drink your juices! They are both fantastic! 🙂
