The Vintage Modern Wife: Happies and Crappies Link Up
I can't believe it's already Friday! It's been a pretty good week around here. We've had some tempers flaring from SUPER long tantrums, but I also am excited about some changes I'm going to be making to our everyday routine. Here's how our week went:
Crappies

  • Tantrums - ohhhhh myyyy loorrrrrd. Like seriously...I can't. Pig doesn't tantrum all the time or anything, but when he does have one, he milks that bad boy for well over an hour or more. How long is a tantrum supposed to be? I realize it's because he's either tired or hungry, but after I've tried fixing everything and doing everything he asks and being super sympathetic to why he feels so upset, it keeps GOING....AND GOING...with no end in sight. Until I have a mini tantrum myself! I'm just like "Stop it!! Stop crying! Mommy doesn't want to hear anymore crying, please!" I can only hold it together for so long, and then I feel so bad when I lose it.
  • The boys were sick. Not for real sick but they had colds, so that meant lots of waking up at night from stuffy noses - you moms know the routine. I don't have to explain. I am part zombie currently, running on very little sleep.
Happies
  • Watching Dacky practice his walking skills. I just love the smile on his face when he walks, he's so excited to be doing something new. Although once this week he got too excited and forgot to take a step, just sort of lunged forward with this huge smile and totally face planted. Huge smile was gone!
  • Spending the day with my mom. We went antique shopping and had lunch at an awesome little Mexican place. We had the boys with us so it wasn't very relaxed but we all had fun. I'm so grateful to have her; she helps me with the boys, buys them cool things, and doesn't mind that they turn her living room into a disaster zone. That's the perfect grandma in my book!
  • I got some of my parenting motivation back. Ever since around the 3rd trimester of my pregnancy with Dac, I pretty much threw all of my parenting goals and standards out the window. It was too hard to keep up the dedication I had previously after having a second baby thrown into the juggling act. But now that Dac is 9 months old, the fog is starting to lift a little bit. And, here is my new parenting goal - don't laugh - I'm going to turn off our television for most of our day! Piggie never watched much television before Dac, but it was really cause he wasn't old enough to care about it, but once Dac was born, I needed him to be entertained while I fed the baby, etc. So now that the baby is older, I want to keep it off for most of the day. Pig didn't even miss it this morning, he went straight to playing. JUST what I wanted him to do!
What were some of your happies and crappies?!
