Because You Matter Too

The mornings always seem to come too soon.
Finishing undone chores
and nursing the baby into the night
forever wins over sleep.
The days are long,
not many moments are hers alone.
Looking into the mirror,
she doesn't recognize the woman
staring back at her.
The dark circles under her eyes,
hair pulled back into an ordinary bun.
She's in a stained nursing gown,
that covers a body she doesn't feel at home in.
Pulling her stomach skin taut,
she tries to remember what it used to look like.

pervades to her very core.
She thinks about doing her hair,
or putting on some make up.
But the baby is getting fussy,
and the toddler is asking for breakfast.
Tomorrow, she promises herself.
Always tomorrow.
I wish I could tell her...
You're so beautiful.
What you fear you've lost,
you still possess.
What you think you're lacking,
you have in abundance.
If you will give a fraction to yourself,
of what you give to every one else,
you will find it again.
Because you didn't lose it.
Because you don't have to give up on it.
Because you deserve it.
Because you matter too.

Beautiful! And you're so right: if we'd leave a fraction of what we pour out to others for ourselves, we'd find that woman we've been missing. Love this !http://www.domesticblissdiaries.com
