The HTML is Haunting Me

Why is blogging so addicting? Especially the HTML side of things? I'll think my blog looks cute and then I'll see a blog that's all pimped out and feel compelled to work on mine for hours or days until it looks just right. And then once it's all made over, I'll look at it and think it just needs a liiiittle bit more tweaking. And then just once more. And then just ten more times....

I thought I had finally made up my mind to just buy a layout from a web designer, but for what most pre-made templates come with, I thought to myself "Ehhh, I can do that! Just give me ninety straight hours to work on it."

Because literally, I feel like that's how long I'm glued to my screen when attempting to do it myself. My eyes were actually blood shot this morning. Tweaking my blog is turning me into an actual tweaker.

So tell me bloggy friends...how do you keep yourself balanced without getting carried away with all that is good and wonderful about blogging?

    It's very difficult! I used to agonize over it but now I have web designers who did my business website and they help me with the harder blog stuff. My next move is going from blogger to wordpress and I couldn't possibly do that without them! Although it can be done.

    Yeah, I've come thisclose many times in the last few weeks to hiring a web designer to just do it for me! Good luck with the move, that's another decision I've thought a lot about. I just love how neat and pretty wordpress is.

    Man I can so relate to this. When I can't figure something out in regards to blogging I just become obsessive. I make myself set a timer, and I have until it buzzes for that day to attempt to figure it out. If I don't do it in the time frame, there's always tomorrow. Although, this is total a work in progress because I'll have a brainstorm and back to the computer I go.

      A timer is a splendid idea! And it's true, there's always tomorrow for blogging {God willing!}

    My life does that FOR me 🙂 I have 3 kids, a teenager, a toddler and a baby, and my husband works long hours far away from home. I know what you mean, but I just don't have the time to hardly POST a blog, much less pretty up the appearance. Your page looks so great, nice work!

      Yes exactly, I think it'd be pointless to spend the money when I'm sure I'd want to tweak it shortly afterwards. You aren't the only one!

    I go through so many phases of this! I wish I took a screen shot with ever blog look so I could go back through them and see how far it has really come! For me, as long as it is staying fun and enjoyable and doesn't start to feel like an obligation then I'm okay with it. 🙂 XOXO/Lena @ RootandBlossom

    Your blog looks great! I bet with two little boys it is hard to come up with 90 hours to work on it. I wish I knew how to do more with mine. I am probably going to have to hire a web designer. I think I want to go to a self hosted WordPress blog soon anyway.

      Thanks Betty 🙂 I think hiring a web designer is really worth it, especially if you're on WordPress. Good luck with your move!

    Haha, this is so me! I'll go through a phase and then later look back and realize, just because I *can* add something new, doesn't mean I *should*!

    Funny how easily this can happen, even more so when you're a perfectionist. Thanks so much for linking up with the tattler Thursday blog hop (ImNoHumdrum *co-host*)

    Oh my goodness, I do the same thing. I know they say consistency is important when you blog, but I just always find something I need to change every so often! 🙂
