So we have finally settled into a routine. The main reason it took so long was because Luis was working from home so much. I thought that was great and awesome that he was here to help me with two kids, and maybe it was since the beginning months are so tough, but now that he's working a regular 40+ hours outside the home, the boys and I have gotten into a little routine that's working pretty good for us.
And since I love reading others' routines, I thought I'd share ours with you!
So, for the record, Piggie is 2.5 and Dacky is 7 months.
Piggie takes one 2 hour nap, and Dacky takes about four 30 minute naps. I think he'd sleep more if it were quieter. But that's never going to happen with a 2 year old boy in the house so I don't even try.
I try to get the baby in bed around 7, and Pig goes to bed around 8.
Okay, so here is a typical day around here if nothing too crazy throws us off:
6AM - Baby wakes up. Piggie follows suit a few minutes later.
- change diapers, take boys out into the living room, put my mocha frapp in the freezer {very important}, turn on PBS, make Pig breakfast. Get my coffee out of the freezer after 30 minutes and drink that baby! {I'm gonna need it!}
8-9AM - Dac will usually take his first nap during this hour.
9-12PM - The boys play, we usually go into their playroom for awhile, I read a million Superman books until my eyes are watering from boredom, around 11 the baby might nap again, we eat lunch sometime during these hours and I may or may not do some type of chore, depending on how motivated I am. Usually I alway do the dishes during this time.
12PM - Put the baby in the swing or his bouncer and put on Finding Nemo. He watches that movie in complete fascination for about 20 minutes.
- during those 20 minutes, I take Pig to our bedroom in the back of the house and nurse him and then rock him to sleep. This is really our time together where he has me all to himself without the baby distracting me. I really enjoy putting him down for his nap.
12-2PM - Pig naps. Dac usually takes another nap and this one may last longer than 30 minutes since it's nice and quiet. Since he sleeps on my chest and I can't move, I usually read blogs.
2-4PM - Pig wakes up, they play some more. We watch lots of Superman on TV. Especially when the baby needs to nap or nurse. I make a snack plate for Pig.
4-6PM - The baby takes his last nap around 4ish. Pig will do puzzles or watch Superman. I either make dinner or heat up leftovers for Pig.
6PM - I pick up the living room and go through the house to straighten things up. I turn the outside lights on, close the curtains, turn on the light in the playroom. I grab the boys' pj's and put them on the bathroom counter. I rotate bath nights; one night is Dac and the next is Pig. I was trying to do both at the same time but it's way too much work.
6:20ish-7PM - We go to the living room afterwards. I turn on a certain show that's mainly drawing and art related since it makes Pig sleepy.
7PM - I start attempting to bounce Dac on the yoga ball everytime I see him yawn. For some reason, with me, he takes like an hour to give it up, whereas with Luis he'll fall asleep instantly -_- So messed up.
8PM - It's usually around 7:45-8 by the time I finally get the baby down for good {I miss the days when he would just nurse to sleep in less than 15 minutes} By this time Pig is ready for bed; he happily turns the tv off and lets me brush his teeth {oh hail the mighty power of the boob}.
- I take him to his room, nurse him, and then lay with him usually until he falls asleep. I'm a sucker like that.
8:30PM - I then fall onto the sofa and consume about a half container of well-deserved Nutella.

You are one lucky momma! A 9 month old bebe, down for good, by 8pm was my fantasy when my daughter was that age. I might have actually considered a second child if she had slept like that! I'm so glad that you don't have a clinical "non-sleeper," like I did. It was quite the challenge. Even with a good sleeper, you totally deserve the Nutella.

Oh no girlfriend, I have the worst sleepers in the world lol. He was not down for good by 8, he woke every 2 hours to nurse until close to 2 years old, as did my 2nd child. I woke up every 2 hours for 4 years lol. So yeah, me and Nutella were definitely best friends 😉
