Ginger is a perennial plant that belongs to the ginger family. Ginger sprouts are quite long and reach 1-2 meters in length. In their shape they resemble reeds with pointed leaves. The flowers are dark purple or light yellow in color and are collected in spike-shaped inflorescences. The root system of this plant is developed and grows horizontally. Ginger in translation means "universal medicine". The main world exporter of ginger is India, which is considered the birthplace of this medicinal medicine. In ancient and modern India, ginger is considered a very useful medicine, as you can personally see. Ginger during pregnancy is recommended to be used as an antiemetic and tonic.
Useful properties of ginger
Ginger is very useful. This is proved by a large number of indications and properties that are rightfully attributed to him. The main properties of ginger: it has an anti-inflammatory, resorbing, healing, toning, even slightly analgesic effect. Ginger increases immunity and resistance to viruses. The use of ginger in food improves appetite, reduces the amount of cholesterol in the blood and even normalizes blood pressure. Recent studies have shown the effectiveness of ginger as a cancer prevention. Another piquant property of ginger is its positive effect on a man's sexual desire, even in ancient times, healers used ginger as an aphrodisiac. Ginger is useful for colds, toxicosis, biliary and renal colic, as well as for abdominal pain. It has a universal positive and cleansing effect on the body, has a beneficial effect on memory and improves vision. If you chew fresh ginger, the effect will be better than any gum, the breath will become fresh, and the gums will be healthy. Ginger will also perfectly cope with any pain, it can be used as a compress, pre-rubbed and applied to the sore spot.
As can be seen from the above, the range of useful properties of ginger is very large, which makes it an indispensable assistant in every home.
It's hard to believe, but this twisted root, at first glance an unremarkable plant, has a very rich chemical composition. Its composition includes such vitamins and minerals: calcium, phosphorus, zinc, iron, vitamins A, B1, B2, C, niacin, PP as well as protein, carbohydrates, amino acids and various essential oils. Therefore, it is not strange that ginger helps during pregnancy, given its rich chemical composition, which is necessary for the expectant mother.
How is ginger useful during pregnancy?
Ginger during pregnancy is not particularly replaceable, as it has an antiemetic effect and eliminates nausea, which is very useful for toxicosis. Another very useful property of ginger is its calming effect, since the expectant mother absolutely does not need stress. Instead of the attributed valerian or motherwort, it is quite possible to drink ginger tea, while the effect will not be any worse. Also, the beneficial effect of ginger on the digestive system will be very useful during pregnancy.
The antipruritic and anti-inflammatory properties of ginger are simply irreplaceable for expectant mothers, since during pregnancy practically nothing can be found from the medicines offered in the pharmacy. And natural ginger tea will be just like salvation.
How to use ginger?
Ginger root can be brewed, added as a seasoning to a second dish or chewed. In the first case, a glass of water will require a piece of root 2 cm long. It is better to brew ginger in a thermos.
Adding ginger for pregnant women to second courses is also very simple. To do this, a small amount of the root should be grated on a fine grater and sprinkled with stew, potatoes, or other stewed dish.
It is not recommended to overdo it with ginger, as well as to drink ginger tea with toxicosis, when ginger itself just turns you sick. So you will only make it worse for yourself. But when ginger is pleasant, it will be a good prevention of many diseases.
Ginger for toxicosis
Separately, I would like to touch on the topic of ginger for toxicosis. Toxicosis is what 80% of expectant mothers face in the first trimester of pregnancy. The real causes of toxicosis have not been clarified so far, but it is there, and it is quite unpleasant. Nausea, vomiting and dizziness may remain after the first three months of pregnancy, and this condition can very exhaust the expectant mother. The World Medical Society is in search of the most harmless means to relieve toxicosis. However, at the moment, there is still no recognized absolutely safe medicine for removing all its negative consequences. Ginger can come to the rescue again, as it helps to transfer toxicosis, while not causing any harm to the child. The only thing that can be put in the minus of ginger is its specific taste. But the choice is obvious if you choose between bouts of toxicosis and ginger tea.
When ginger is not allowed
However, there are situations when ginger is not recommended during pregnancy. This applies to those women who have already had a miscarriage. It is also not recommended in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, during breastfeeding and with stomach ulcers. If you do not fall under any of these contraindications, then you can safely enjoy all the healing properties that ginger has. Do you want to learn about a fun new casino game? This looks so fun! We don't do one-on-one activities with our kids enough, but you've definitely made me want to, even if this post is about a family walk! Now that it's cooling down we like going on walks in the evening before bed, and it has been so nice just to get out of the house! We'll have to try those Clif bars! The Oatmeal Cookie one sounds amazing!

I've missed your blog. So happy that I thought to check out your fb page and come visit. I'm never disappointed. Your free printable is the cutest thing ever. My children would love to do this daily.
How about winter walks though, you participate in those?! ? Oh wait... You're in Arizona (or somewhere) with sunshine year round. It's about to be a blizzard mess with snow to my waist in a couple months!!! =) Lol
Jessica Dimas
Monica, long time no see!! I'm glad to hear you're doing well! Haha we definitely don't have to deal with blizzards but we have the opposite, 115 degree summer days, so I feel ya on certain parts of the year being near impossible to go on walks. Actually I feel like our "winter" months are coming to an end and we can finally venture outside without it feeling like an oven haha! ?
Tiffany
We are big on family walks. All great benefits, especially getting some of that energy out, haha!
Marietta
My kids and I love going on walks! But, our neighborhood isn't really the best for it. It isn't horrible, but it's not particularly safe either. I'm hoping that by this time next year, we will be in a new house and in a new, family-friendly neighborhood. Then we will be walking all the time!
Jessica Dimas
I hope you are too Marietta! I could definitely understand that situation, I've lived in some places before that were safe but were just...questionable haha.

Hi Jessica! Family walks are the best ? We have some of the best conversations with the girls when we go on walks. We definitely need to do them more often
