The main prize — the Golden Lion of St. Mark — was awarded to the film by the Italian director Luchino Visconti "The Misty Stars of the Bear". Visconti's name is widely known all over the world and in our country. We know his best films: "The Earth is shaking", "The most beautiful", "Rocco and his brothers". But the film "The Misty Stars of the Bear" is disappointing. This picture was very much expected at the festival. Interest in her was fueled by the press. The premiere of the film was arranged very solemnly: the audience gathered, as if for a holiday, crowds of photojournalists. Luchino Visconti and the main actors Claudia Cardinale and Jean Sorel were enthusiastically received. And so the movie began.
The action of the "Misty Stars of the Bear" takes place within two days. A young married woman, Sandra, the daughter of a famous scientist, stops by her ancestral palazzo on the way from Switzerland to New York. Her husband is curious to meet his wife's family, and Sandro wants to honor with a public ceremony the memory of his father, who was killed by the Nazis in a concentration camp during the war. Sandra's brother, who lives in the palace, has a pathological passion for his sister, he reveals to her some details of the life of his mother, who is guilty of his father's death. The authors claim in their film to have a modern understanding of the ancient tragedy. Sandra — Elektra lives in a strange world of mysterious rooms, where for some reason it is impossible to enter, around an alarming twilight park with a sculpture of her father covered with a white veil that flutters in the wind, as Sandra's own hair flutters. Everything in the film is shaky, unclear, human relationships are confused, unnatural...
"The dark drama of self—destruction" is how the Italian film critic Hugo Casiraghi called this film in the newspaper "Unita". And he's right. "The Misty Stars of the Bear" is a cold film, a film about the decline and degradation of the human personality. Nothing in it excites, does not touch the human heart. The picture was perfectly shot by the cameramen, but that's where its advantages end. There are no interesting images or genuine complexity here.
I was glad to meet the beautiful Annie Girardot on the festival screen. She and her husband are my old friends. Both of them are well known to the viewer from the movie "Rocco and his brothers". And I was pleased to congratulate her on the award for the best performance of a female role in Marcel Carnot's film "Three Rooms in Manhattan". However, the public and the press met this film rather coldly.
At the closing of the festival, according to tradition, the film was shown to those who did not participate in the main competition.
If in the future the Venice Festival aspires to become a professional viewing, then it is unlikely that such films can contribute to this... This looks so fun! We don't do one-on-one activities with our kids enough, but you've definitely made me want to, even if this post is about a family walk! Now that it's cooling down we like going on walks in the evening before bed, and it has been so nice just to get out of the house! We'll have to try those Clif bars! The Oatmeal Cookie one sounds amazing!
I've missed your blog. So happy that I thought to check out your fb page and come visit. I'm never disappointed. Your free printable is the cutest thing ever. My children would love to do this daily.
How about winter walks though, you participate in those?! ? Oh wait... You're in Arizona (or somewhere) with sunshine year round. It's about to be a blizzard mess with snow to my waist in a couple months!!! =) Lol
Monica, long time no see!! I'm glad to hear you're doing well! Haha we definitely don't have to deal with blizzards but we have the opposite, 115 degree summer days, so I feel ya on certain parts of the year being near impossible to go on walks. Actually I feel like our "winter" months are coming to an end and we can finally venture outside without it feeling like an oven haha! ?
We are big on family walks. All great benefits, especially getting some of that energy out, haha!
My kids and I love going on walks! But, our neighborhood isn't really the best for it. It isn't horrible, but it's not particularly safe either. I'm hoping that by this time next year, we will be in a new house and in a new, family-friendly neighborhood. Then we will be walking all the time!
I hope you are too Marietta! I could definitely understand that situation, I've lived in some places before that were safe but were just...questionable haha.
Hi Jessica! Family walks are the best ? We have some of the best conversations with the girls when we go on walks. We definitely need to do them more often
