Monday was Luis' 29th birthday. Minus blowing up balloons and almost passing out, static electricity plaguing my balloons once they were hung up, and no freaking tablecloth to use...I didn't know that this was actually going to be the easy part of the day.
Thankfully, I had decided to make Luis a little pre-made mini cake that I saw on The Pioneer Woman's blog. You guys, this little cake is the best! All you do is buy a pound cake or an angel food cake at the bakery, get some Nutella and Cool Whip and do this:
It would've helped if I had some cut outs instead of having to carve it myself with a knife, but whatever, I went hardcore that day. And after you put the Nutella on the cake, you let it set for 30 minutes in the freezer before you put thawed Cool Whip on it. It was soooo yummy!
Roses are red, violets are blue, you're still in your 20's, I HATE YOU |
This is my amazing, Pinterest worthy card I made for Luis, complete with a jealous poem I wrote for him. I just turned 30 so he keeps making out like he's better than me cause he's still in his 20's.
Making dinner was the hardest part. I think both my kids screamed for like an hour nonstop. It gets very dramatic around here anytime I attempt to do something like cook or clean. They both suddenly need to be held and fed and given some water and eat cake right this second or the world will end type stuff.
But, most importantly, Luis seemed to really love it. He loved the baked spaghetti and he loved the decorations and he love his little mini cake, and I think he just loved being with his family. So, I suppose the madness was worth it.
Happy Birthday Luis! We love you!
